Leeds Sunday Alliance Premier Division
Republica International 1
Leeds Maccabi 1st 7
Leeds Maccabi 1st got their title tilt back on track after smashing seven past Republica International.
Dave Woolman grabbed four, while Dan Ross, Curtis Bitton-Price and Oshri Amar were also on target for Maccabi.
Ian Selwyn’s men are now six points off league leaders New Ireland Wood with two games in hand and the Maccabi boss was delighted with his team’s latest triumph.
“It was a good game to get back into the swing of things and it was a relatively comfortable win.
“We know we’re in a good position now and if we can win all our games then we’ll win the league.
“We’ve still got the top three to play at home and hopefully we can go on and win something this season.”
Maccabi, who currently sit fourth in the league, face third place New Unicorn FC on Sunday with just two points separating the pair.
“We played New Unicorn earlier in the season and lost 1-0 to a wind-assisted goal,” said Selwyn.
“They’re a good side and it will be a difficult game, but hopefully we can get a result.”
Elsewhere, Leeds Maccabi 2nd were beaten 6-4 in a thrilling contest by Temple FC.
Oliver Abrahamson and Nick Vale both scored in the first-half as the teams went in level at 2-2.
And despite Tim Zoltie’s stunning free-kick giving Maccabi a 3-2 lead, Simon Fisher’s men were unable to hang on.
Nick Goldman pulled a goal back to make it 5-3 with five minutes remaining, but Temple added a sixth late on to seal the points.
