Leeds Maccabi 3rd boss Alex Ullmann has set his sights on next weekend’s battle of the basement when they take on Broughton.

Second-bottom Leeds were beaten 2-0 by Republic of Mancunia 1st after conceding two late goals and remain winless so far this season.

And with rock bottom Broughton also having failed to muster a victory so far this term, Ullmann is hoping his side can come out on top when the two go head-to-head on Sunday.

“I know that both teams are looking forward to the game, because we both feel we can beat each other,” he said.

“It’s not often that you’ll hear me being happy with a defeat, but we competed for 87 minutes and once we went a goal down, the boys were very disappointed.

“We’ve improved leaps and bounds in recent weeks and there’s been definite progress since the start of the season.

“We’re a much better team now and we’re definitely more confident. That’s what we’ll be taking into the next game.

“The lads are really battling at the moment and they’re all looking forward to facing Broughton.”

Leeds have taken one point from a possible 27 so far this season but Ullmann belives his players are gradually getting to grips with the MJSL.

He added: “It’s always difficult bringing youngsters straight into adult football and perhaps they were a bit daunted at the start.

“But they’re much more used to it now and are really starting to show what they can do.

“They’re more confident and they’re happy playing their football.”
