JOE JACOBSON expressed his pride at being selected in League Two’s PFA Team of the Year.

The Wycombe defender was nominated by his peers after an impressive season.

Cardiff-born Jacobson has been a consistent performer at left-back for his promotion-chasing side who have kept 17 clean sheets this season.

He made headlines with the FA Cup third round equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at Adams Park in January.

And coupled with his two goals and numerous assists with his set-piece deliveries, Jacobson, 29, won the vote.

Jacobson, who attended the end of season awards dinner in London on Sunday night, said: “It was a really proud moment.

“There’s no bigger compliment to be recognised my your fellow professionals. But without my team-mates I wouldn’t have been selected.”

It wasn’t all good news for Jacobson after Wycombe missed out on the chance for a second successive play-off spot.

The Buckinghamshire club – who lost last season’s final at Wembley - are seven points adrift with just two league games remaining.
