Year-six pupils at the Brodetsky Primary in Leeds are set to become film stars after being voted winners of a national rap competition for Jewish schools.

For the prize is to turn their winning song, Kosher Rap, into a professional music video.

Teacher Karen Gill said the song was the product of "a guided writing session. It was very much a group effort as the pupils adapted their ideas to fit the backing track."

Brodetsky head Jeremy Dunford added that the performance of pupils - which has been viewed some 2,000 times online - was "very much a reflection of the vibrancy of the campus.

"I'm very proud of what our pupils were able to achieve with the support from the amazing staff and facilities on this campus."

Max, who is among the rappers, said that as well as enjoying the recording he "loved the tension of looking at the votes every day and seeing who was in the lead".

For Jack, "the filming and recording was the best part. I'm delighted that we won because there were lots of other schools competing."

Manchester King David finished second, and primaries from London, Liverpool and Glasgow also entered.
