Fyodor Golan, the design label which is a collaboration between Russian-born Fyodor Podgorny and Israeli Golan Frydman, is the winner of this year's coveted Fashion Fringe Award.

The award, which was made during London Fashion Week, was created by fashion commentator Colin McDowell in association with IMG Fashion.

The duo's Spring/Summer 2012 collection which won over the judges, who included Claudia Schiffer, Roland Mouret and Selfridges managing director Anne Pitcher, was called Flowers of Evil. Inspired by the poems of Beaudelaire, and the paintings of Vincent van Gogh and Frida Kahlo, it featured knee-length tailored dresses in gentle shades of lemon and green, offset with gold tribal necklaces.

Part of the award is cash which helps fund the duo's next two collections and provides help in selling their Fashion Fringe collection to retail outlets. It also provides them with equipped studio space in Somerset House for two years.
