Laura Freedman participated in the TrainE-TraidE placement scheme last summer:
“As a first year I didn’t really know what I wanted to do or how to get into different placements.
“TrainE-TraidE were great in introducing me to the contacts, helping me to put a CV together and giving really good advice on workplace skills. They found me a three-month placement as a business development assistant at the Redbus Media Group.
“I worked on lots of different projects at the company, as well as assisting the chief executive.
"My favourite task was giving a presentation to the sales team on student life and overall student purchasing trends. At first it was daunting, presenting my ideas to a team of professionals and answering questions on the spot, however, I learnt a lot doing this.
“All work experience is good experience and if you do your best to maximise the internship, it can act as a springboard for future opportunities. Initially when I applied I was hoping to make contacts and get some industry exposure over the summer.
“At the end of my placement, the chief executive offered me the chance to come back for my placement year, which is a huge step in my career development, and one that I am really looking forward to.”
