Hannah is from St Albans; Josh is from Sacramento, California. She holds a BA in tourism studies, he is an electrician. They share a love of camping and hiking. The couple are planning to make their home in Sacramento
How they met
“On Kibbutz Yotvata, near Eilat, in January 2005,” Josh recalls. “We used to go jogging together around the kibbutz and the nearby desert area.” Hannah adds: “We gradually became better friends and he asked me to go on a date to a restaurant in Eilat called Giraffe. We had wonderful food and a few days later Josh arranged a picnic on the top of a mountain in the Negev . We sat watching the stars for hours. It was an amazing date.”
The proposal
She says: “It had been my dream to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, so on my first visit to Josh in January 2006, we spent a few days in San Francisco. As we reached the middle of the bridge, I turned to take some photos and when I turned around again he was on one knee and proposed. We celebrated with cocktails at an amazing bar called the Cliff.”
The wedding
A civil ceremony was held in Sacramento, a requirement of Hannah’s American visa, and the chupah at Radlett and Bushey Reform Synagogue, with some of Josh’s family and friends from the States in attendance.
The honeymoon
“We went camping at Lake Tahoe,” Hannah says. “It was incredible. So peaceful, clean, beautiful and great fun, with camp fires in the evening and barbecues.”
