Haroldeans boss Ivan Gee insists his side will conquer their Manchester Maccabi 3rd hoodoo – despite crashing out of the Shonn Trophy.
Haroldeans have lost just twice all season and on both occasions it has been Steve Bentwood’s Maccabi side, which has done the damage.
Jake Kelly and Danny Rubinstein were on target as Maccabi claimed an impressive 2-0 win over the league leaders in Liverpool.
But Gee is adamant his side will get the better of Maccabi eventually, with the Merseysiders now aiming for revenge in next month’s Feldman Cup semi-final.
“It was a very poor performance from us and Manchester fully deserved their win, but we’ll beat them eventually," he said.
“We’ll be confident of beating them in the Feldman Cup semi-final because we’re not going to lose to them again.
“We’ve lost to them twice already and we’ve still got another two to play against them.
“On this occasion they were much better than us. They played in a very intelligent manner and we didn’t perform.”
With the game level after ten minutes, Ali Goldsmith wasted a glorious opportunity to put Haroldeans ahead by firing wide from the penalty spot.
And the hosts were made to pay the price as Maccabi made the most of the chances which came their way.
Gee added: “It was disappointing because we had opportunities and we didn’t take them.
“But we’ll bounce back and perhaps in the long run this defeat will do us some good.
“We’re still well clear in the league and hopefully we can wrap that up soon.”
