The Jewish girls primary school established by the new Chasidic community in Westcliff has cleared a number of significant hurdles after a fresh inspection by Ofsted.
When inspectors came in February to Beis Chinuch Lebonos, which was formally registered last year, they found that a number of the required independent schools standards were not being met. But on a return visit recently to review some of the standards, inspectors found these were now being complied with.
Ofsted reported, “The school has moved at pace to address the unmet standards of the last inspection. The improvement journey to meeting the previous inspections’ recommendations is well-advanced.”
Training for teachers and governors at Beis Chinuch, which has now over a hundred pupils, have led to positive results.
“Where pupils are insecure in their knowledge, they have appropriate intervention sessions to reinforce learning,” Ofsted said. “These sessions are having a positive impact.”
The curriculum was now “ a seamless learning journey from the time children start their education in nursery to the time they leave in Year 6”.
Teachers were now careful to give pupils with special educational needs or disabilities the support they needed.
Joel Klein, co-chair of the school, said, “It’s like a dream come true. We are very productive of what we have achieved and the progress of the school. We try to give a good education and pupils are very happy.”
