Tuffkid, the integrated nursery run by Kisharon in Golders Green, has celebrated its third Ofsted award of outstanding in a row.

The report of the latest inspection enthused over a “welcoming and truly inclusive environment, where each children’s uniqueness is valued”, overseen by an “inspirational” manager.

Tuffkid previously received the top grade from Ofsted in 2011 and 2016.

Children arrived “with broad smiles, eager for an exciting day of learning” and flourished because of the excellent education and nurturing they received, observed the visiting inspector.

They “remember how they have previously sawed wood and confidently transfer the technique to cutting vegetables. Children display perseverance and attention to detail as they ensure that the pieces are small enough. They know how to keep themselves safe and comment, 'I am not going to cut my fingers’.”

Emotional wellbeing was given the highest priority with children with special needs benefiting from “extremely effective and intensive support”.

Manager Janice Marriott acted swiftly to close any gaps in learning and offered practical support to parents such as helping them to register with a dentist, Ofsted noted.

Her leadership gave staff “a deep understanding of the educational theory which underpins their excellent teaching. For example, staff describe the importance of allowing children to practise and struggle as they learn new skills, to help them develop resilience and independence. Partnerships with parents are exceptional.”

Children “sing, recite poems and chat with staff throughout the day. They constantly build on their vocabulary. For example, as they observe snails, children hear and use the words 'slither', 'slimy' and ‘antennae’.”

Mrs Marriott said she was “thrilled that Tuffkid Nursery has continued to be recognised by Ofsted as outstanding. It is a privilege to be part of an amazing organisation with support from an incredible management team who trust in us to thrive.”
