Rachel Barbanel, the headteacher of Sacks Morasha, is leaving in February after less than two years in charge of the Orthodox primary in North Finchley.

No reason has been announced for her decision neither has her next destination.

In a statement, the school’s governors said her time as head had been “marked by incredible achievements, including excellent year-6 Sats results, the successful completion of our new school building and playground, and a glowing Ofsted report.

“We have seen the school flourish and we are witnessing a significant increase in demand for enrollment. This success is also a testament to the hard work and commitment of our dedicated Senior Leadership Team and talented teachers.”

While saddened by her departure, they said they were “immensely grateful for her contributions. Mrs Barbanel leaves our school in an excellent position, and we're excited about the school's promising future ahead. We extend our heartfelt thanks to her and wish her the best in her future endeavours.”

Mrs Barbanel, who was previously deputy head of Beit Shvidler Primary in Edgware, arrived at the start of the summer term in 2022.

In September last year, the school’s Jewish studies was graded as outstanding by the Pikuach inspection service and a year later Ofsted confirmed it as a good school, saying it was “a lovely place to be”.
