Ofsted has reaffirmed the good standing of Hasmonean Primary School in Hendon after its first inspection in five years.
Inspectors did not award an overall grade as it is already classified as a good school.
Headteacher Hayley Gross, who arrived two years ago, said she was “absolutely delighted that Ofsted has once again recognised the commitment of our staff and the enthusiasm of our pupils. The report reflects the warm, welcoming, and inclusive nature of our school.
“We are a school where children thrive academically and socially, and I could not be more proud of everyone involved.”
Dan Sacker, chair of governors, added: “We are proud of the improvements we’ve made and look forward to continuing our journey to provide an exceptional educational experience for all our children.”
Inspectors noted the “strong working relationships” children enjoyed with staff, the eagerness of pupils to learn and the high achievement of children in many areas. “Pupils are happy and proud to belong to this inclusive school,” Ofsted reported.
Children shared the school’s values including its work “to encourage pupils to be kind to one another”.
A curriculum developed in recent years had ensure “a high standard of education in many subjects… In mathematics, for example, pupils are encouraged to solve problems and to discuss and explain their methods.”
But in a few subjects such as design and technology, which had been more recently developed, expertise was not as strong.
The inspection was carried out during the summer. Ofsted has subsequently announced the axing of overall single-word grades for inspections for state schools from the beginning of this academic year.
