v The chairman of Woodside Gan has expressed disappointment after Ofsted said it “requires improvement”.
But the grade is one better than its rating of “inadequate” earlier this year.
The inspectorate said the atmosphere at the United Synagogue-registered nursery in Woodside Park was “cheerful, and children develop strong attachments with staff and each other. For example, staff take time to celebrate each child’s individual journey at the nursery on their graduation. Children feel happy and secure.”
Parents commented that the nursery felt “like an extended family”, while staff enjoyed working there.
But on the downside, the curriculum did not always ensure that children received “high-quality learning experiences” and some children felt the role play area “uninviting and cluttered”.
Josh Sasto, chair of the nursery’s governors, said, “While we are disappointed with this outcome and, in particular, frustrated that the inspection took place during the garden party when the nursery was not set up in the usual way, there is a lot to be proud of in the report.”
They were pleased that Ofsted recognised “our safeguarding practices are effective,” he added. “We are committed to improving the indoor environment and improving the supervision and professional development of staff… The report recognises that this is underway…
“We will continue to work hard to support our wonderful staff as best as we can and look forward to welcoming Ofsted back soon to see the changes we have made.”
