Radio host Nick Ferrari has told the Jewish community he would “always have [its] back”.

Speaking at the Class of 24 graduation ceremony at JFS School in Kingsbury, north-west London, the popular LBC presenter said that as someone with Italian heritage, he could relate to the strong bonds within Jewish families.

Presenting the students with certificates, he spoke with admiration about the education they had received while at JFS, which would equip them well for the future, he said.

Ferrari has long been a supporter of the Jewish community, having spoken previously at fundraising events.

Headteacher Dr Moody told the former pupils: “You walk out of this building as a cohort of 300 strong proud Jewish graduates with the support of everyone in this room. We want to live in the world that you will build.”

He paid tribute to the graduates for their hard work and dedication and applauded the support and effort of their parents and their teachers.

This year, students in the UK were joined by those on a gap year in Israel via video linkup, organised by JFS and hosted by educational charity StandWithUs.

The school’s president Lord Levy encouraged graduates to be proud of their Jewish identity and not to allow the surge in antisemitism to stand in the way of them achieving their aspirations.

The school used the opportunity to unveil a plaque to celebrate Lord Levy’s 80th birthday and “all of the work that he has done in building a secure future for JFS”, said Dr Moody, adding: “As we approach our 300th anniversary in 2032, we are only able to do so on a stable footing because of everything that he has done for the school in his capacity as our president.”
