The principal of Manchester’s Broughton Jewish Cassel Fox Primary School, Rabbi Yehuda Pearlman, has joined the London School of Jewish Studies as its Jewish studies programmes manager.

Also new at the Orthodox educational institute is Jonny Atkins, Immanuel College’s professional development lead, who will take on the part-time role of managing the School Direct programme for training secondary school teachers.

Atkins said he was “tremendously excited to be joining the talented and passionate team at LSJS” and was “relishing the challenge to get a diverse, committed, and talented group of Jewish educators to become school leaders of the future.”

Rabbi Pearlman, a Pikuach inspector who is studying for a PhD in Jewish spiritual education, will work on the School Direct and Teach First programmes, the Israel seminar for Jewish studies teachers and Project Innovate, which was launched year to encourage new classroom initiatives.

He said it had been “a wonderful experience getting to know the new cohort of young educators who are passionate about making a difference to Jewish Education in the UK”.

The previous manager of the School Direct secondary programme, Rabbi Danny Baigel, has taken up a deputy headship at JFS.
