Etz Chaim’s number-crunchers were in fine fettle as the Mill Hill Jewish primary reached the finals of a national maths contest.

After success in the heats, which attracted more than 300 schools, they were one of 39 schools from across the country to make the final Quiz Club National Inter-School Maths Championships at Oxford University.

Etz Chaim’s team of Rafi Bibring, Jake Glass, Noah Keene and Edward Wolfin, all in year 6, went head to head with leading independent and state schools.

Headteacher Hannah Martin, who accompanied the team, said: “Hundreds of primary schools enter this annual championship, so to get through to the final is a massive achievement that our team should be proud of. Especially as we were the only Jewish primary school to make the finals.”
