Low-carbon JCAT gets grant to go solar

Academy trust receives grant of nearly £675,000 for energy efficiencies

The Jewish Community Academy Trust has been awarded a grant of £675,000 by the Department for Education to install low carbon heating in three of its primary schools.

Solar panels and heat pumps will be installed at Hertsmere Jewish Primary in Radlett, Sacks Morasha in Finchley and Wolfson Hillel in Southgate.

Funding will also go towards pipe insulation and door proofing.

The trust’s fourth school, Rimon in Golders Green, already complies with government recommendations.

Working with Asset Plus, the trust surveyed energy usage on the three sites to see where savings could be made.

Meanwhile, the trust reported in the first month of the spring term that children’s attendance was higher than the national average despite Covid-related absences.
