The executive headteacher of King David High School, Manchester, John Dalziel, will be stepping down at the end of the year in July after three years at the helm.

Jonathan Dover, chair of governors, said, “We are all saddened by his decision”.

Mr Dalziel had “led the school with diligence” and “we thank for his contribution… during his tenure which has seen four Ofsted inspections and a Pikuach inspection”.

In March 2022, the school was downgraded to “inadequate” but a year later inspectors noted progress and lifted it out of special measures.

Mr Dover said, “The governors have started the recruitment process to find a new headteacher and our priorities are to regain the excellent academic standards for which the school is renowned, to ensure the highest standard of behaviour from our pupils and to enhance the Jewish ethos of the school.”
