A history and politics teacher who has worked for the BBC has been appointed as a deputy head of Immanuel College in Bushey.
Barnaby Nemko, who is head of history and politics at St Helen’s School in Northwood, will join the school in June.
Gary Griffin, who took over as Immanuel’s headmaster in September, said a key goal was “to improve academic standards and that is why we undertook a rigorous recruitment process to find the right person to lead the management of the academic curriculum.”
Mr Nemko would, he said, have “ the responsibility to deliver the highest standards in teaching and learning through strategic leadership, innovative thinking and commitment to outstanding quality”.
A former informal education director of youth movement FZY, Mr Nemko has an MA from London University’s Institute of Education as well as an MSc in electronic pubishing. He worked in online education for the BBC before pursuing a teaching career.
