Glasgow school's chaplain says Lisa Corr's departure is a 'great loss'
February 6, 2022 13:47Recruitment is under way for a headteacher at Scotland’s only Jewish school after the departure of Lisa Corr.
Ms Corr, who had led the school for over three years, had been on leave of absence from Calderwood Lodge in Glasgow since September.
A spokesman for East Renfrewshire Council said that she had “decided to move on” and the school will be overseen on an acting basis by Anne Marie Absalom, head of St Clare’s, the Catholic Primary with which Calderwood Lodge shares a campus.
Rabbi Moshe Rubin, the school’s chaplain, said Ms Corr had been “a great headteacher — it’s a great loss. She really loved the school and created a fantastic team around her.”
Paul Edlin, president of the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council, said she had been “very popular with parents and pupils and very helpful in maintaining the Jewish ethos.”.
He added, “We don’t anticipate any problems in making a suitable appointment.”
Calderwood Lodge takes a sizeable number of pupils from other faiths and none although the majority are Jewish.
