Another Chasidic school has been told by Ofsted it should be talking to pupils about people of same-sex orientation or transgender status.
Talmud Torah Toldos Yakof Yosef (TTTYY), an independent school in Hackney for boys from two to 13, was graded inadequate for the second time in two years.
Inspectors criticised weak teaching, a narrow secular curriculum and too little time spent on English, maths, science and geography.
While new policies and procedures met independent school standards, these were being implemented too slowly.
Overall, the school was fulfilling its aim of developing informed citizens, or “menschen”, as Ofsted put it.
But although knowledge of other religions such as Islam or Christianity had improved since the last inspection, pupils were “unaware that some people are different because of sexual orientation or gender reassignment”.
The school was told it should provide more information on where boys go after 13, such as the addresses of yeshivot.
