Parents and teachers from Hendon’s Nancy Reuben Primary were out on the streets of London on a Saturday night earlier this month distributing packages to the homeless.

In a project initiated by the school’s pupil leadership team, children from the school had spent the previous fortnight collecting warm clothing, food items and toiletries with help from the United Synagogue’s Chesed department.

Fifteen teams of parents and teachers and pupils went out to deliver more than a hundred packages.

Vivi Adler, a Year Six member of the pupil leadership team, said: “Delivering the packages to homeless people felt important to me because it put a smile a on their faces, which put a smile on my face.

“I hope they can soon find and buy their own things once they run out. Also I hope it helps them through the next few days to keep them warm and happy and full.”
