Team GB have reached the semi-finals of a Futsal competition for the first time after Jonny Cohen’s Open squad claimed a 7-4 victory over Estonia on Sunday afternoon. The Open football and Junior football remain on course for wins following important victories. It was also a good day for the golfers and ten pin bowling team.
OPEN FOOTBALL - GB 2 MEXICO 0
Second half strikes from Craig Ellis and James Gershfield saw Team GB boost gold medal hopes with a 2-0 victory over an ill-disciplined Mexico team who finished with eight men after three reds cards.
GB were on top throughout in a victory marred by an injury to right-back Danny Cole who suffered a broken arm and is out of the competition.
The win saw GB make it three out of three. Manager Ben Winston commented: “We need a point to go through tomorrow against the weakest team in the whole competition.”

JUNIOR FOOTBALL - GB 8 DENMARK 0
Joel Nathan's boys maintained their 100 per cent record with an eight-goal demolition of Denmark.
Jake Bentwood opened the scoring with Michael Kenley firing a hat-trick. Connor Perlmutter, Sam Carson, Sami Zerovabeli and Stanley Offord for the gold medal favourites.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL - GB 0 USA 3
GB showed a vast improvement on their opening result, a 7-0 drubbing by USA, to push the Americans much closer second time around.

OPEN FUTSAL – GB 7 Lithuania 4
A first-ever hat-trick from Motti Colman plus another inspired display from keeper Danny Berliner set up a last four clash against Lithuania tomorrow evening.
Further strikes from Lee Bibring, Adam Klein, Danny Sugarman and Ben Sollosi sealed the win.
GB Open futsal manager Jonny Cohen said: "What pleased me most about today is that we’ve taken chances, something we haven’t done in our first couple of matches."

MASTERS FUTSAL – GB 1 RUSSIA 8
Birthday boy Laurence Newman was on the mark for Adam Lustigman’s GB Masters futsal squad but they had no answer to the power of favourites Russia who scored six goals in the squad half.
GB performed doggedly for 17 minutes but two goals either side of half time saw the Russia’s romp to victory.

TEN PIN BOWLING
Team GB took their second medal of the competition with an impressive silver in the Trios.
The team of Ian Davis, a silver medal winner in the singles, Gary Ellis and Jack Nesbit saw GB claim the European gold but overall silver in a competition they led at the halfway point by 45 pins. The USA hit back to leave GB trailing by 90 pins with one game to go while they held a 74-pin advantage over Sweden. GB finished 78 pins behind USA and 98 ahead of the Swedes.
Gary Ellis was the highest points scorer overall, recording 1341 at an average of 223.
Bowling captain and manager Ian Davis said: "The medals we've won are of more value than previous EMGs as the standard is that much higher. Both medals were hard-earned."
Teammate Jack Nesbit commented: "To be fair, we've moved up a notch."

GOLF
GB enjoyed a stunning day at Fontana Golf Club, bringing home medals galore.
There was a clean sweep in the Men's Individual Gross with Mancunian Nicky Harris taking gold, Marc Kuber claiming the silver and Rob Alter bronze.
There was also joy in the Open Net Individual category with Zak Talbot of Dunham Forest winning gold. Clubmate Ben Mesrie was runner-up.
In the Team Gross, GB Open took gold while the Juniors grabbed silver.
Junior Golf manager Ben Green said: "It was a big achievement for the Juniors to compete in the Open category against nine other countries."

SQUASH
Team GB won two gold and two bronze on Sunday.
Top seed Sam Levine took the gold in the Open event while David Nagler finished in third place.
Former world No. 69 Matt Crawcour was in red-hot form on his way to winning the Masters tournament. David Lazarus cemented the bronze.

TABLE TENNIS
There is a chance of more medals in table tennis on Monday. Ashley Stokes and Eli Baraty booked their place in the last eight in the men's singles, while Ian Mablin, Jeremy Banks and Ivan Lewis have reached the quarter-finals in the Masters singles. Lewis and Banks also qualified for the last four of the doubles.

David Garcia and Yossi Goodlink kept alive medal hopes by reaching finals scheduled for Monday.
Dan Cohen clinched his spot in the Plate Final while Cohen and Garcia also sealed a birth in the doubles final.

GB went down 45-30 in the last eight of the Open Epee Team Event.

IN OTHER NEWS
The Belgium Open football team had their coach and captain expelled from the European Maccabi Games. This follows an incident where the referee was pushed over in the portacabin after one of their matches earlier in the week.
There was also a scuffle between players from Germany and Hungary in the changing area on Sunday evening.
