The minister of Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue's Southside minyan, Rabbi Boruch Boudilovsky, will leave the Hertfordshire community in September to take up the pulpit at Young Israel North Netanya Synagogue. At YINN, one of the principal shuls serving the local English-speaking community, he will succeed Rabbi Edward Jackson, former long-serving minister of Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue, who settled in Netanya following his retirement.
Israeli-born, though brought up in Glasgow and New York, Rabbi Boudilovsky has made no secret of his desire to return to Israel with his family.
Assigned special responsibility for the development of the Southside minyan, which holds its regular services at Yavneh College, his contribution to its development was praised by BES chair Anne Gordon. "As the community has grown, so has Rabbi Boudilovsky's stature in the community," she said.
The rabbi and his wife Esther have also been involved in successful programmes for newlyweds and women.
A replacement is being sought to join senior rabbi Chaim Kanterovitz and youth minister Rabbi Amos Azizoff on its ministerial team.
