Yom HaShoah, the Jewish community’s day of remembrance for victims of the Holocaust, will be marked with one of the largest events in the history of the occasion, say organisers.

Thousands of people, including survivors, refugees, dignitaries and families from all Jewish denominations will come together to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust and the liberation of Bergen-Belsen by British Armed Forces.

Chair of Yom HaShoah UK Neil Martin OBE said that the event in Victoria Tower Gardens, the proposed site of the new Holocaust Memorial, “may be the last major anniversary where survivors and refugees are present in meaningful numbers”.

He added: “The ceremony will be a profound moment of unity, remembrance, and hope, standing as a testament to the community’s unwavering commitment to keeping the memory of the Shoah alive.”
