Joy Moss has stepped down as Jewish Child’s Day chair after 28 years, telling its AGM she had been "overwhelmed by the warmth the charity emanated and the difference it made to so many Jewish children in need".
During her time in office, JCD has grown from raising £100k per annum and supporting 50 projects to generating more than £1 million yearly and backing 120-plus projects. She was presented with three plaques, which will be sent to projects JCD is supporting in celebration of its 70th year. Two are in Israel, the third is at Step-by-Step in London, assisting children with both mental and physical disabilities. She will continue to be involved as life president.
The new chair is Charles Spungin, who has been actively involved with the charity since 2008 and previously served as treasurer. He is excited to take on the role when "we are in a position to make a real difference, both in the grants we can award and in the lives of the children who need us most. I also hope that I can help the charity connect with a new generation of donors.”
