The police are investigating reports that a Jewish man was attack by a mob of teenagers in Hendon on Friday.
Video footage from the incident shared by Campaign Against Antisemitism on Twitter/X shows a group of teenagers running after a man on Brent Street.
One member of the public told the Campaign Against Antisemitism that one of the teenagers in the group was heard shouting antisemitic abuse.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that on Friday, June 14 , police on proactive patrol came across an altercation involving a group of youths in Brent Street.
In a statement the Met said: “They moved in to separate the group and arrested one teenager on suspicion of ABH. There were no reports of any serious injuries.
“We're aware of the video circulating online, and suggestions that officers did not take action. This is not accurate and further enquiries are ongoing.
“We've spoken to the victim. While enquiries are in the early stages we remain open-minded regarding motivation.
“We've also spoken to trusted partners from the Jewish community and will remain in contact as the investigation progresses.”
The Campaign Against Antisemitism said on Twitter/X: “These incidents cannot be described as isolated. The atmosphere on our streets, campuses and even at schools is becoming increasingly dangerous and incendiary.
“We have warned for months of where this is leading. The next Government must act and demand decisive action from police, universities, schools, and those who are failing to keep Jewish citizens safe.”
The London Jewish Forum said it was “aware of reports of an allegedly antisemitic incident in Hendon earlier today. Promoting community safety and cohesion remains one of our priorities, and we are in close contact with the relevant authorities and agencies.”
