Magen David Adom UK (MDA), supporting Israel’s national emergency service, is launching a new mission encouraging the public to join the effort to rebuild the Jewish state following the turmoil of October 7.
Entitled the MDA UK Resilience Mission, people from across the world will get the opportunity to travel to Israel, take part in the recovery of society following a period of upheaval, and witness first-hand the life-changing work of MDA medics.
The mission will bring the group to the north of Israel where they will immerse themselves in Druze villages, sleep in the Golan Heights, travel to the Western Wall for a prayer and have an overnight stay in Tel Aviv.
The group will tour the location scarred by October 7, including a kibbutz in the midst of its rebuild after being ravaged, the Nova festival site, and the “Car Wall” in Tkuma where burnt cars have been preserved, including scorched MDA ambulance.
During the visit, participants will bear witness to emotional stories of resilience, including Druze senior MDA paramedic Adam Safadi, whose daughter was one of the 12 children killed in the Majdal Shams rocket attack on a football field, as well as the MDA heroes who attended the call to save lives amid the chaos.
Despite the tragedy, Safadi has continued his important work as a medic stationed in Mas’ade Druze village. Participants on the mission will visit the Julius Station where he is still based, which was visited by a previous MDA mission of Christian congregants in 2022 led by Pastor John Hemus of the Apostolic Church of Liverpool.
The volunteers will also hear testimony from Nova festival survivor Eitan Halley, who was trapped in a roadside bomb shelter alongside murdered hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin and Aner Shapiro, who was killed while fending off grenades from the hiding spot. MDA medic Ophir Tor, who was shot at by Hamas terrorists on the way to his shift in Sderot, will also tell the group about his journey since the fateful day.
MDA UK was founded to support the charity in Israel, helping with its efforts to provide nationwide aid-training, maintain ambulances, collect and supply 300,000 units of blood annually, and collaborate with the Palestinian Red Crescent.
