Jewish Care has celebrated a remarkable achievement at the Employer Brand Management Awards.

The health and social care charity was honoured with two prestigious awards, winning gold in the Best Employer Brand Management in the Charity, NGO, or NFP Sector, and silver in the Best Employer Brand Management from the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Sector.

The awards recognised Jewish Care’s success in employer brand management, supported by their partner WeLove9am.

Jewish Care’s CEO, Daniel Carmel-Brown, expressed his delight at the recognition, stating: “We are delighted to win these awards for our employer brand, ‘Love: every day’.”

The ‘Love: every day’ page on the Jewish care website includes enhancements to increase accessibility, so job seekers can listen to the job advert, and there is also a function that allows job seekers to work out the length of their commute when considering applying.

Carmel-Brown highlighted the organisation’s commitment to valuing and supporting its team of over 1,200 staff members, emphasising that this dedication mirrored the care provided to the people they served.

“At Jewish Care, every day, we value and support our talented team in just the same way as we value the people we care for, and that’s why we call our employer brand ‘Love: everyday’,” he said.

Jewish Care’s staff play a crucial role in delivering care and support to 12,000 people each week, said Carmel Brown,

acknowledging their “dedication, hard work, and round-the-clock care”.

Carmel-Brown said that the organisation was committed to aligning its salaries with the London Living Wage for all frontline staff, thanks to the generosity of the Wohl Legacy, and that despite the challenges in recruiting staff across the social care sector, Jewish Care continued to maintain a higher average rate of staff retention than the sector in general. "This results in greater consistency of care, reducing spend in agency staff and making Jewish Care a great place to work,” he said.

The CEO also highlighted the diverse backgrounds of Jewish Care’s employees, stating: “Whilst we care for the Jewish community, our employees come from all faiths, backgrounds, and from many nationalities, making Jewish Care a truly special employer and a beacon of light.”

Now in its ninth year, the Employer Brand Management Awards programme rewards excellence in the field.

According to the awards’ website, an employer brand “is an intrinsic part of the ethos and ethics of an organisation. If utilised well, it attracts, engages and retains talent. Importantly, it also instigates the employee experience and guides the employee journey.”

Jewish Care provides a wide range of specialist support services for older people, including Holocaust survivors, across London and the South East providing social connection in a warm, Jewish environment.

Jami, which is now part of Jewish Care, provides vital services for young people from the age of 11 years old through to those in later life whose mental illness and distress makes everyday life a struggle.
