A Young Social Network for Essex and East London Jews was launched with an event at a private members’ club, which attracted a capacity crowd of 50.

Founders Eli Dias, Josh Dobias and Jonathan Bloom, who all live and work in the area, are “passionate about the community and ensuring there is a good social infrastructure in place to support the sustained success of the Jewish population in the long-term”.

Mr Bloom told guests: “The area has gone through great changes over the past 20 years. We are no longer densely based in one area and are more dispersed — from Hackney to Epping and beyond.”

Another speaker was Essex-born Jonathan Goldstein, chair of the Jewish Leadership Council, who sponsored the launch. He talked about his upbringing, his experience in the business world, the importance of volunteering and the future of UK Jewry.
