Supporters will be cheering them along the way
April 27, 2025 09:08Fifty-nine London Marathon runners are currently making their way through the capital, dedicating their race to the 59 hostages still held captive in Gaza.
The hostages have been held in the Strip since October 7, when Hamas terrorists launched an unprecedented attack on southern communities in Israel, murdering some 1,200 people and taking around 250 captive. The hostages have now been held in the Strip for 569 days.
A spokesperson for the Hostages and Missing Families Forum UK said: “Fifty-nine incredible runners are running to raise awareness and remind the world of our 59 hostages who are still not home.
“Please come join us to show your support for the hostages and their families. Bring your voices, your signs, and your hearts.”
The campaigners will be cheering them on at mile 12 and mile 17 of the race and suggesting that supporters bring small kosher treats for the runners to help them maintain their energy levels.
The spokesperson added: “Let’s be loud. Let’s be visible. Let’s make sure the world does not forget them.”
They are asking people to post photos of the 59 runners to social media with the hashtags #BringThemHome #RunForTheHostages #NeverForget #bringhomenow_uk
