Fehler hits four to send Hendon into semis

Just five Maccabi GB Southern Football League matches beat the wintry conditions on Sunday, though it was a morning to remember for Hendon United’s Dovi Fehler.

The striker netted all four goals for his side, scoring twice in each half, in their 4-0 win at London Athletico, as they booked their place into the semi-finals of the Cyril Anekstein Cup. Manager Alex Rosenthal said: “It was a brilliant team performance from start to finish. Complete dominance, great intensity, and Dovi was unstoppable.” Athletico’s Jess Phillips said: “We handed them three goals from our own mistakes. Our second half performance was better, but we’re still struggling with injuries and unavailability of key players.”

Joining them in the last four of the competition are fellow Premier Division side HMH A, who were just as emphatic in booking their passage through, beating Geez Park Rangers 5-1. Tyler Smith scored for Rangers.

Stoke Salmon moved up into second place in the Premier Division as they came away from bottom side Hapoel Hampstead with a 3-2 win. Sam Clarfield and Jack Naftalin scored for Hampstead.

Mill Hill Dons moved up into third spot in Division One as two goals from Jordan Bayer-Goldman helped them to a 3-1 win over Brady FC. His double put them into a 2-0 lead, and although Brady halved the deficit midway through the second half, Adam Woolfstein’s strike three minutes from time sealed the win.

HMH B spurned the chance to close in on a top-four place as goals from Harry Earle and Daniel Slavid – both scored in the last ten minutes – weren’t enough to see them claim the three points, as they drew 2-2 at Hampstead Ducks. Zachary Collins scored twice to deny them the win.
