The Community Security Trust (CST) has issued a security notice to the UK Jewish community in response to heightened tensions arising from the ongoing Middle East conflict, particularly following the recent killing of Hassan Nasrallah and the escalation with Iran and its proxy.

On Monday night Iran launched over 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, an act that was celebrated by the Islamic Republic and its supporters around the world.

As the High Holy Days and the anniversary of October 7 approach, the CST has emphasised the need for strict adherence to security protocols in communal buildings, citing an increased risk of antisemitic incidents and extremist demonstrations.

The organisation pointed out Hezbollah and Iran’s historical involvement in terrorist activities targeting Jewish communities worldwide.

"This warning comes at a time of intensified antisemitic and extremist activity in the UK, which our community has faced with resilience," the CST stated.

"As we enter a sensitive period marked by significant anniversaries, including the October 7 events, it is crucial for everyone to be vigilant and comply with security reminders."

CST warned it is essential to keep all gates and doors closed at all times, ensuring they are guarded when opened.

Community members should remain alert for suspicious individuals and activities, particularly with respect to parked vehicles and unattended items.

Any suspicious behaviour must be reported and if it is safe to do so, individuals are encouraged to engage with and challenge those who appear out of place.

With Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur just around the corner CST is important prevent "tailgating," individuals should be vigilant against anyone following closely behind to gain unauthorised access.
