An independent Charedi girls’ primary school in North-West London has passed its Ofsted inspection with flying colours, being ranked good in every category.

Inspectors found “calm, stable leadership” at Bnos Beis Yaakov Primary, housed on the site of Kingsbury Synagogue — and strong progress made by pupils across a well-balanced Jewish studies and secular curriculum.

Headteacher Nathaniel Lieberman was singled out for praise, having overseen improvements sought by Ofsted since the last inspection four years ago.

Pupils had high aspirations and found learning fun. School leaders had “worked collaboratively with schools within and beyond the Jewish community. They have welcomed support from the local authority to help secure improvements in the early years provision.”

Education for those with special needs was well-managed.

Both the Jewish studies and secular curriculum promoted British values “very well. For example, drama performances give pupils the opportunity to role-play characters from a range of backgrounds and contexts. This helps to develop their understanding of different people, values and cultures.”

Resources had been put into increasing understanding of other faiths and religions.
