v Representatives from the Board of Deputies accompanied volunteers from the Sikh Council UK and Nishkam Swat (Sikh Welfare and Awareness Team) to provide hot meals for the homeless in London.

Board vice-president Edwin Shuker was among those who went to the Strand to donate food and join their Sikh colleagues in serving meals to hundreds of people.

“This was a display of true interfaith work in action,” he said. “The Board will seek to expand this work across communities throughout the country.”

Last month, the Board and the Sikh Council announced a partnership “to join our communities in pursuing the common good”. The first joint event was in support of the drop-in centre at West London Synagogue for families seeking asylum.
