Yossi Benayoun won a record 95th cap in Israel's 3-0 friendly defeat against Mexico.
A 65th-minute replacement for Eran Zahavi, Benayoun received a warm welcome from the 100,000 crowd at Estadio Azteca.
"This is a definite milestone for me," said Benayoun. "It is special to break the record in this stadium, especially when the player that shared the record with me, Arik Benado, is here with us as assistant coach."
Benayoun made his first appearance for his country at the 1996 UEFA European under-16 Championship. He went on make his debut for the senior team against Portugal in 1998. The 34-year-old has gone on to score 24 goals for Israel and admits he would like to register many more.
"My goal is to keep going in the national team," he said. "This has been the most important thing for me throughout my entire career. I don't want to stop here."
Two goals from full-back Miguel Layún put Mexico on course for the win. Marco Fabián finished the job five minutes from time in a game where Israel goalkeeper Ariel Harush made a number of errors.
