Barnet Synagogue is to twin with Poland's main congregation, the Nozyk Synagogue in Warsaw - seat of its Chief Rabbi, Michael Schudrich.

The twinning - the first between British and Polish synagogues, according to Barnet's Rabbi Barry Lerer - will be celebrated at ceremonies in Poland next month and in Barnet in October. The tie-up will "help rejuvenate Jewish life in Poland", said Filip Slipaczek, media officer of the Institute of Polish-Jewish Studies.

"Barnet is a young, vibrant community and many people have links with Poland."
