Convicted Holocaust denier David Irving is being cited as an expert on World War Two by a Spanish newspaper.
El Mundo included him as part of a series to commemorate the 70-year anniversary of the beginning of the War. The article will be published on Saturday, a day after one with the chairman of Yad Vashem, Avner Shalev.
Mr Irving was jailed in Austria because of his denial of the Holocaust.
Raphael Schutz, the Israeli ambassador to Spain, condemned the decision in a letter to the newspaper. He said that the interview giave him undue credibility.
The paper insisted that its editorial line was against “Nazi barbarism” but that it had acted in accordance with freedom of the press and a belief that people should form their own opinions.
Estee Yaari of Yad Vashem, who spoke on behalf of Mr Shalev told The Jerusalem Post, he “would never have agreed to be interviewed had he known".
