Israeli super-agent Pini Zahavi, who is best mates with Roman Abramovich, was entertained by Thai members during Manchester City’s match against Chelsea. When the subject of a transfer involving Ronaldinho came up, Zahavi, also a close ally of City boss Sven Goran Eriksson, cast doubt over a possible move.

Manchester United director Joel Glazer has clearly not been affected by the American credit crunch. He is paying off a £2.5 million mortgage on a waterfront pad in Tampa. Son of Malcolm, his humble abode has five bedrooms, a dock and a salt water pool. And with two laundry rooms there’s no reason why he can’t clean the kit!

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy confirmed he is not against selling the club. Although he is yet to receive an offer, Levy said: “We have more than 20,000 shareholders – and if it was in the interests of everyone, including the fans, we’d have to think about it.”
