articlemain

An American man has won more than a $1m in compensation after suffering antisemitic harassment at work, including having "Nazi propaganda" put on his desk and being called "Jewbacca".

Brandon Jacobs received $1.25 million from the Township Committee in Wall, New Jersey after his co-workers consistently made antisemitic comments and gestures such as placing Nazi propaganda on his desk.

Mr Jacobs worked there between 1999 and 2016, when he took disability retirement because of the harassment.

He sued the organisation in 2015. His lawsuit said he "endured having his co-workers and superiors continually barrage him with anti-Semitic comments on a near-daily basis".

He claimed his colleagues yelled "Mazel tov" repeatedly, called him names like "Golum", "f***ing Jew", "Cheap Jeward", "Mr Money Bags", "my big Jewish buddy" and "Jewbacca".

He was asked why he “killed Jesus” and told him he should have numbers tattooed on his arm, a refernce to the treatment of concentration camp inmates during the Holocaust.
