Leading retailer TK Maxx has apologised for selling a t-shirt with lightning bolts resembling the Nazi SS symbol.
TK Maxx removed the t-shirts – featuring the symbols on top of a circle – today.
The tops had been on sale in UK stores.
A spokesman said: “At TK Maxx we take product matters very seriously and appreciate that this t-shirt was brought to our attention.
“We believe we bought only a small number of these t-shirts, and as soon as we were made aware of the image concerned, we initiated a process to remove them from our stores.
“We would like to apologise to our customers for any offence this may have caused.”
The t-shirts are designed by SYSTVM Clothing, which on Twitter describes itself as being “influenced by global tribes and street culture”.
The fashion brand, which can be found on sale on popular fashion website ASOS, also said it hopes to “bring a new energy and fresh urban aesthetic to a saturated youth fashion market”.
