Writer, director and renowned East Ender Steven Berkoff has teamed up with an EastEnder — actress Gillian Wright, who is starring in five new short plays written by Mr Berkoff about the latent antisemitism he believes still exists in Britain.
Ms Wright, who appeared in the BBC soap as bipolar mother-of-two Jean Slater, leads the cast in the dramas, which are co-directed by Mr Berkoff and Max Barton.
Settings range from the arrivals queue at a concentration camp, to a child’s bedside where a little boy is being told an antisemitic bedtime story.
Together, the five plays form a season, called Steven Berkoff’s Religion & Anarchy, which runs from September 24 to October 26 at the Jermyn Street Theatre in central London.
