Former Israel Idol winner Hagit Yaso brought additional glamour to the Meir Panim UK fundraising dinner in London’s West End on Saturday evening.
The 24-year-old, who won the talent contest in 2011, treated the 250 guests to emotional renditions of Adon Olam and Yerushalayim Shel Zahav. Dinner was prepared by Michelin-starred chef Pascal Aussignac.
Meir Panim tackles poverty in Israel and guest speaker, TV presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, said: “The more I read about the amazing work you do, the more I wanted to be here.”
Ms Kaplinsky recalled seeing poverty at first hand when growing up in Kenya. “What you give is never enough and you can always give more,” she urged supporters. The dinner raised £180,000.
