Yossi Benayoun has undergone the controversial horse placenta therapy administered by Serbian therapist Mariana Kovacevic, the JC understands.
The Liverpool midfielder was in Belgrade from Sunday to Tuesday for the treatment on the hamstring injury he sustained in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Birmingham at Anfield last week.
The Israeli captain had been expected to be out for a month but following the treatment, that involves massaging liquid from a horse's placenta into the affected area, in Serbia, he has returned to training and could be fit by early next week.
Benayoun said: “It’s an absolutely routine treatment, just like undergoing an ultrasound. I am feeling better already. My hope now is that I will be fit in one week, two at the most. I have a good feeling about it.”
