Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead
On UK tour until April 29| ★★★★✩
There was a false start for the London press night of Complicité’s latest show, an eco thriller based on the acclaimed novel by Poland’s Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk.
Showtime came and went, then a further five minutes. A man in black with headphones and a microphone announced that there were technical problems.
This could easily have been the latest disorientating ruse by director Simon McBurney in which audience expectations of what theatre is or can be are subverted.
But no. Twenty minutes later it was announced that the show’s leading actor Kathryn Hunter was unwell.
