Not since David beat Goliath, has a diminutive Israelite beaten such a  massive opponent.

When the Israeli singles tennis champ Dudi Sela (five foot, nine inches) took on John Isner (six foot, ten inches) on Wimbledon’s court 12 , spectators assumed that he’d be crushed, especially as Isner is ranked 21st in the world and Sela is  90th.

But the Israeli secured a shock victory.

The win propelled the Israeli player to the third round of the competition.

He celebrated with a fist pump and is now one of the last 32 players left in the tournament.

Sela won the  match 6-7, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6 and 6-3 and will have to take on Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the 11th highest ranked player in the world.

In 2009 the Israeli reached Wimbledon’s fourth round.
